So as March 4th 2006 comes to an end and and I come to the realization that I am actually 24, part of me thinks, I'm still pretty young. Then the other part of me thinks... wait a second, one more year and I will be 25 and that is like a quarter of a century. Is that really possible? Am I really that old? Oh well, I'm over it. I still feel young. I had some kid tell me the other day that I didn't hardly even look 18, and have you seen my driver's license picture? Talk about a young
pup. I am still wearing braces in that picture. I know that I act immature at times too! So anyways... I am officially 24! God has brought me through a lot and I can't wait to see what else he has in store for me either. My birthday was great! Last night my friends surprised me! My friend Krystel (the girl who stormed the SAG Awards with me) kidnapped me, blind fold
ed and everything and took me to a local restaurants where I found about ten of my friends waiting for me. We all enjoyed some delicious pizza and some good times!! (Thanks for the T-shirt Erica!) After than I was ready for the second surprise of the evening. My friends, Jen, Nicole and Krystel and I all went ROLLER SKATING!!!! I haven't done that since the good old days of middle school skating parties!! It is amazing how all skating rinks look exactly the same. Anyways... We jammed to the old school and new school tunes blasting through the speakers. I got the hang of roller skates again after becoming so accustomed to my inlines. I even tried my sorry hand at the backward skate portion of the night!! Talk about sad! I did make it all the way around though without falling, (not without coming mighty close however.) My friend Ni
cole showed off her amazing moves and we gawked at all the studs of the roller skating sub-cultures... You know those people that are just amazing at skating whether or not it is in style any more. We met this one guy named Frank. He came into the rink right after we did. He was fully
decked out in his shorts and 92 Jersey, sweat band and all carrying his case which held his very own skates. Later that evening we were graced by his amamzing skate/dancing skills in the middle of the floor. It was quite something. Did I mention that Frank had to have been around 60 years old and that he told us that he came to the rink... Every single night? Well, Franks humored us and let us take a picture with him anyways. Needless to say it was a night full of fun and crazy excitement! That all happened on March 3, but today, my actual birthday, held some excitement as well. I woke up and 6:45 and my friend Jen and I made it to the Rose bowl b
y 7:00 so that we could run our 7 miles in training for our Half Marathon at the end of April. After that I went down to the projects with adopt-a-bloc! My new family, a Hispanic family that just moved into the projects, found out that it was my birthday, and before I left to go home, they had given me a cute little box with jewlrey in it as a birthday present and lots of hugs and Feliz Cumpleon
os wishes! I got to play with some kids and had a great afternoon. When I got home I had to return a few Phone calls with birthday wish and then I went to the gym! I had a volleyball match and a couple of my friends, Kelley and Krystel, actually came and watched! It was so much fun to have a little cheering section! After that I made my way to my friends engagement party. She just got engaged on the top of a mountain over looking Los Angeles! How Romantic... anyways... it was quite the celebration for them!So all in all I had a fabulous birthday, full of fun calls and cards and little presents and blessings throughout! My best birthday present of all though, was given to me by my parents. They bought me a plane ticket to come home for my spring break in two weeks! I am so excited to be home and have a break from school, and let me tell you, I will need it after the 46 pages of research I have yet to right before I hop on the plane on March 17th. I could get stressed out, but why? It will all get done!
So in closing, I praise God for my life, not obviously in some egocentric way, but I praise him because he made me, created me, special, unique, his very own. I think part of the fun in life is discoverying who you are and in so doing being able to tell a little bit more about the creator!! So thanks for your support in that journey! I hope this finds you well and until next time...
You old foagie!:)
