Today I saw one of the smallest miracles I have ever seen. One day, I was walking up the stair well of my cute little apartment complex which I do everyday, when I saw out of the corner of my eye this hummingbird flying in my direction. When I took a double take I noticed that it had disapeared. When I looked a little closer, I was amazed to find that the hummingbird that I had seen was not just any bird but rather the bird was a mother and was now sitting on the tiniest nest I have ever seen! I was amazed and sat and watched it for a little while. Over the next couple weeks, I would always check on the newly named "Mama Humma" ever time I passed b
y. Though I had yet to catcha glimpse of the babies, It wasn't long before I saw two tiny needle like beaks sticking out.... it made me think how uncomfortable that might be. Anyways... the little birds got bigger and bigger, and the Mama Humma wasn't seen as much. Yesterday, I chuckled as they had gotten so big that the nest looked so uncomf
ortable for them. Today when I came back from class, I paniced because for the first time, the nest was empty. I was so sad because I thought my little friends had left without say goodbye, but oh no... I looked to the upper branches and to my surprise my little babies had learned to fly, for they had lifted themselves to the top of the tree!!! I watched them in amazement as they sat so calmly on the branches. Pretty soon they worked up the courage to try it again, this time with an audience. Their little wings got going and they fluttered a short distance to the next branch. One of th
em even flew about a foot away from the tree! Now you are probably wondering why I am taking so much time in this... Well first of all, it really was amazing for me to see. Hummingbirds are one of the coolest creatures God has made, but it also communicates in a way a little bit about how I feel. Basically, I am 23... 24 in about a week and a few days... and I feel like I am still learning how to fly. Humming birds are so unique compared to other birds, and I know that God has created me uniquely as well, and has a paticular purpose for me. Here, at Fuller in my classes and adventures that I have gotten to take, I really feel like God is teaching me how to fly! He is teaching me about who I am and what he has for me in the future. Though, obviously, I don't have it all figured out but I think you know what I mean! Step by step I am learning a little more about what it means for me to live this life abundantly for Him.Anyways... enough of the philisophical stuff! I'm doing great. My classes are tough, this round having a lot to do with history of the evangelical movement! Kind of fun though. My roommate
and I share homemade pizza every wednesday, and I've continued to hang out in the projects on Saturday morning just building relationships with people. I'm still tutoring, and he definatly keeps me on my toes. The boy I tutor is in 5th grade and we have a blast together though sometimes I have a hard time keeping him focused. I've gone on a few adventures lately as well. My friend Amber and I went to Joshua Tree National Park and did some dangerous rock climbing with not harnesses or ropes. Don'
t worry nothing happened but it did give me a couple adreneline rushes. Krystal, another friend, and I also tried to spot some movie stars by crashing the Movie Actors Guild Awards! And boy did we see them. We saw some good ones, like Sandra Bullock, Kevin Bacon, Maritn Sheen and Jena Davis! Don't get too excited though, these were only visuals from about thirty yards away as they made thier way from their limo to the red carpet and then once aga
in out of our view. It sure was fun shamlessly screaming at them to get them to give us a glance... I was a real turist! I've also gotten to check out some of the local churches and the other night my new running buddy Jen and I went to a cheap taco place after the sunday night service with a couple of the girls we had met at church. Come to find out, both of them are amazing girls and one of them is a studly Water polo player. She currently plays for the USC team and even made it onto the team that is going to the 2008 Summer olympics!! How cool is that. I met a future olympian!!!Anyways... Other than that not much else exciting is happening in my life. I am in th
e sprint for the finish as the quarter finishes in a couple of weeks on March 17. I have been a little homesick, and hope to come home for spring break to get a little colder weather... sometimes there is nothing like a good overcast Michigan day! So if you think of me shoot me out an email and let me know what is going on in your life! It helps to hear from friends and family! Anyways... I hope this wasn't too long but if you know me.... what else would you expect! Blessings!I leave you with one of my favorite photos of the Pacific ocean! Enjoy!
