I have determined that my life in living for Jesus is going to be filled with adventure. Not all of them will be easy or even enjoyable but many of them will be beyond what I will be able to imagine. Currently I find myself in another new leg of the journey, of the adventure. Mid September of this year, I took a sweet road trip across the country all the way down to Southern California. (This is a picture of me standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon! I love the fact that there are no railings and I could have easily jumped if I wanted to. Of course, I'm not stupid but what an adventure.) I am now atteneding Fuller Theological Seminary. I am in about the 7th week of a ten week quarter. Pretty soon I will be done with classes for Christmas already. I can't even believe it. Beyond just the road trip, this has truly been an adventure. I have moved
into an awesome one bedroom apartment and made lots of friends. My roommate, Katie Berens, and I are getting along great. (Well, at least I think so!) I am surrounded by tons of other Fuller students in my apartment complex too. God has blessed me with an amazing community that loves God and who is very supportive. After being so far from home last year in Venezuela, this has been a welcome change. I have an amazing view off my balcony overlooking the San Gabriel mountains, which of course
I can actually see when the smog isn't bad. I do my quiet time out there most mornings. Almost every day, I go running around the Rose Bowl with some of my friends. I have gotten the oppronity to go to the beach several times with other Fuller students, playing volleyball, body surfing, and even rollar blading in Malibu to Venice Beach. I am also continuing to rack up embarrassing stories, such as getting a flat tire on a bike ride about three miles from home, stumbling at cross walks in front of cute
boys, trudging through manure on someones lawn accidently, and even nearly lighting myself on fire during class attempting to plug in my laptop! Classes have been going great.
Though sometimes I feel like I am in over my head, I love my classes! I am learning so much and I just know that the material is so applicable to (Veiw from my Balcony) where I feel God calling me. I am learning truly what is meant by cross cultural ministry. I see some of the things I did wrong while I was teaching English in Venezuela, but I also see some things I did right. It is so great to have that expereience to draw upon. So to
wrap this up, there are tons more stories and if this works well, I will keep them coming, but Truly it has been an adventure. To even just think that a little less than two months ago I had never even seen Fuller, and now it is become a huge part of my life, it amazes me. When I stepped into the car to travel cross country, I never knew the amazing adventure that he would take me on but I guess that is how it goes with God. If we just trust him to take care of us and to lead us, he will take us to places we never could of dreamed of. He has shown me to be abundantly faithful! So thanks for checking this out and I will try to keep it fun and exciting!Love in Him,
Christy Statema
